Structural Systems Solvable According to RYTEİE2019 (Risky Building Regulation)
StatiCAD Program Can Solve the Following Structural Systems for Risky Building Assessment According to RYTEİE2019
1- Masonry (with RC Slab) (Internal Analysis) (Walls as Frame FE, Slabs as Shell FE): A finite element model is prepared for 3D analysis of the structure. Masonry walls are modeled using frame finite elements at the section centroid, and slabs are modeled using shell finite elements. Loads transferred from slabs to walls and other structural elements are calculated according to the finite element method.
In the program, wall, beam tie, vertical tie (participation of vertical ties in system rigidity is optional) elements are calculated using frame finite elements. Slabs are divided into triangular meshes. Two different methods can be used for triangular meshing. The preferred method (default) includes only slab node points in the slab triangular mesh, dividing the slab into 8 pieces (mesh). Another method is the Triangulated Irregular Network (TIN) which includes wall and beam element node points connected to the slab in the mesh process and divides the slab into many more meshes.
2- Masonry (with Timber Slab) (SAP2000 Analysis) (Walls and Slabs as Shell FE): In masonry buildings with timber slabs, the timber slab cannot create a rigid diaphragm. For 3D analysis, both walls and slabs are modeled using shell finite elements. In modal analysis, instead of 3 modes per floor, 300 modes are used. If necessary, the number of modes is increased to ensure that the ratio of effective masses to floor mass exceeds 90%.
Whether a software package uses rigid diaphragm in modal analysis can be determined by checking if more than (number of floors * 3) modes are used. In other software claiming to perform masonry building analysis with timber slabs, it should be checked whether the number of modes exceeds (number of floors * 3).
StatiCAD requires SAP2000 finite element software for analysis without rigid diaphragm. On a computer with SAP2000 installed, StatiCAD opens SAP2000, transfers the system model with shell finite elements. It transfers the earthquake spectrum curve in SAP2000 via Define>Functions>Response Spectrum command, considering SS, S1 and soil class. It performs the building analysis in SAP2000 without creating any rigid diaphragm.
StatiCAD automatically creates Section Cuts in SAP2000 considering the wall model and segments entered in StatiCAD. It reads the internal forces (axial force, shear force, bending moment) obtained from Section Cuts and performs risky building assessment.
3- Reinforced Concrete (Internal Analysis): Reinforced concrete structural systems are modeled using frame finite elements for columns, beams, and shear walls, and shell finite elements for slabs. 3D analysis is performed with rigid diaphragm assumption.
4- Reinforced Concrete (SAP2000 Analysis): For more detailed analysis, the RC model can be transferred to SAP2000 for analysis. Results are read back and risky building assessment is performed.
