Defining Mat (Raft) Foundation in StatiCAD
Starting from StatiCAD Ultimate version 6.2.0.0, mat (raft) foundation calculations can be performed for reinforced concrete and masonry buildings.
For mat foundation calculations to be performed, the "Finite Elements - Structure-Foundation Combined Analysis" option must be selected in the foundation calculation options on the Design page of the Project General Settings.
Additionally, the "Calculate Shell Internal Forces" and "Get Slab Internal Forces from Shell Results" options must be checked on the Mesh page.
For mat foundation with beams design: You can select Regular/Quadrilateral for the shell finite element mesh type. Draw continuous foundation beams on the foundation floor, and draw mat foundation slabs between the beams using the slab command.
For mat foundation without beams design: Select Irregular/Triangle for the shell finite element mesh type. Draw single or multiple mat foundation slabs between desired axes on the foundation floor.
Slabs drawn on the foundation floor are treated as mat foundation slabs by the program.
In beamless mat foundation calculations, the rectangular or quadrilateral slab option that allows irregular triangular mesh formation should be used for modeling so that the mat foundations can be divided according to the node points of the vertical structural elements above them. Polygon and curved slabs should not be used in beamless mat foundations as the mesh structure is created during their formation.
After running the analysis, mat foundation calculations will also be displayed when the foundation calculations report is obtained.
Additionally, when you click the slab reinforcement tables on the foundation floor, a window will appear where you can modify the assigned mat reinforcement. Reinforcement diameters and spacings can be changed from here.
