Half-Basement Building Projects
When the project has a half-basement (i.e., when some of the ground floor walls continue to the basement floor while others sit directly on the foundation below the ground floor), the "Half-basement building project" option must be checked in the project general settings.
If this option is not checked, the program only assigns supports beneath the basement floor walls. In this case, since supports are not assigned beneath the ground floor walls that sit on the foundation, the walls without supports and without downward continuity act as cantilevers and do not carry shear force during an earthquake. Only the walls with continuity carry the earthquake force, which results in an incorrect solution.
When the option is checked, supports are also assigned beneath the ground floor walls that do not continue to the lower floor, ensuring that the force distribution is performed as it should be.
