Explanation of Performance Result Differences Between Versions

CONTRIBUTION OF INSUFFICIENT WALLS TO FLOOR SHEAR FORCE

1. In StatiCAD-Yigma VERSION 3, earthquake forces are applied in the X and Y directions. The absolute values of additional shear forces acting on walls due to torsion are taken. The sum of these forces is added to the floor shear force to obtain the torsional floor shear force. The calculated torsional floor shear force is written in the performance report as Qtbi. For each floor, the sum of shear forces of insufficient walls in the X or Y direction is divided by the Qtbi value to determine damage ratios. If the damage ratio exceeds 50% in any floor in any direction, the building is declared risky.

2. In StatiCAD-Yigma versions between VERSION 4.0.0.0 and Version 4.0.9.5, the calculation was based on Prof. Dr. Zekai Celep's "Regulations for Buildings to be Constructed in Earthquake Zones - Explanations and Examples Book" published by the Ministry of Public Works and Settlement, Page 617, Example 20. In this method, the torsional shear force contribution is considered differently.

3. Starting from Version 4.0.9.6, both methods are available as options. The user can select which method to use based on their engineering judgment and the specific requirements of their project.

The difference in performance results between versions is due to these methodological changes in how torsional effects and insufficient wall contributions are calculated. Users should be aware of these differences when comparing results from different versions of the software.
