Finding Model Errors from Joint Displacements
After analyzing the project, the following procedure can be followed to determine whether there are errors in element connections or in the finite element model:
1- Performing the analysis with semi-rigid diaphragm can make it easier to find model errors.
2- After analysis, pressing the NVM button on the right toolbar of the modeling screen displays the 3D finite element model of the system.
3- You can also access the same screen using the 3D Ultimate option on the main screen.
In the finite element display options form, check the "Show Displacements" option on the displacement page. When the Direction Ux and Loading Ex1 options are selected, the displacements of elements and nodes in the X direction will be displayed.
If there is an element with excessive displacement compared to other elements, there may be a problem with its connection to other elements (on its own floor or with elements on the floor above or below). For example, if the element is a cantilevered wall, it may not be placed on a beam or slab on the floor below. Such elements should be reviewed and modeling corrections should be made.
If displacement appears in an element that is supposed to be at a fixed support point (foundation level), the element's connection to the foundation should be checked.
By examining the displacements in both X and Y directions, model errors can be identified and corrected before finalizing the analysis results.
