Creating Grid Inside Selected Walls

A practical method for creating grid elements (edge studs, middle studs, top header beams, belt beams, bottom header beams) inside selected timber shear walls is presented below with step-by-step instructions.

1- Model the wall plans in your project, taking doors and windows into account.

2- Select the wall elements in which you want to create a grid and click "Change selected wall properties" from the right-click menu. If the element type is not set to timber shear wall, select the timber shear wall option.

4- While the walls to have grids are selected, click "Create grid inside selected timber shear walls" option under the Edit menu.

5- Make adjustments in the wall elements form that appears. A DNM (Node Point Distance) value of 0 means studs are drawn flush to the left; for a 20 cm wide timber stud, a value of -10 cm means the stud is drawn centered within the wall. Enter the stud width in the b field.
