Defining Columns, Beams, and Foundation Elements with Polygon Cross-Sections in StatiCAD V6

Starting from version 6.0.0.0 of the StatiCAD program, columns, beams, and foundation elements with polygon cross-sections can be defined in your projects.

The Bar Element Properties Form is displayed by pressing the "Select Section" button on the vertical tie beam drawing toolbar or in the vertical tie beam properties form.

To create a new section, select the section type.

Press the "Open Blank Template" button to display the section properties form.

Click the "Select Material" button to display the material properties form. The material to be assigned to the section is selected from the list or defined using the "Open Blank Template" button.

Before pressing the OK button on the material properties form, a material must be selected from the registered materials list.

Enter the parameters for the section definition and press the OK button.

Whether the created shape is as desired can be checked in the Drawing Area section on the section parameters tab. If the drawing is not as expected, correct the incorrectly entered values in the coordinate table and press the "Get Corner Coordinates from Table" button again.

If desired, on the inertia moments page, by selecting "User-defined section parameters," the calculated values for the section can be modified.

Press the OK button to return to the bar element properties form.

In order to assign a section to a structural element whose properties are to be modified or to be drawn, the section to be assigned must be selected before pressing the OK button.
