Masonry Building with Concrete or Reinforced Concrete Walls

MASONRY BUILDING CALCULATION WITH SOME CONCRETE OR REINFORCED CONCRETE WALLS

If you are using Version 7:

You can enter reinforced concrete basement shear walls or plinth walls that do not continue to the upper floor as "Reinforced Concrete Basement Shear Wall." If the shear walls continue to upper floors, enter them as "Reinforced Concrete Shear Wall."

If you are using a version before Version 7:

Concrete or reinforced concrete shear wall elements are entered into the program like other walls.

Unit weight can be taken as 2400 kg/m³ for concrete and 2500 kg/m³ for reinforced concrete.

The modulus of elasticity of concrete is entered as the modulus of elasticity value.

In the plinth floor (and other floors), the tie beam (hatıl) height above the wall must always be smaller than the floor height. Otherwise, wall stiffnesses will become undefined and errors may occur during analysis.

The wall compressive strength value can be selected as fck for new buildings and fm for existing buildings. The Gamma m (γm) safety factor should be taken as 1.5 for new buildings and 1.0 for existing building assessments.

Shear wall thickness must be greater than 1/25 of the floor height.

In this way, concrete or reinforced concrete wall definitions can be made.

From the analysis results, wall shear verification is performed and wall safety stresses are reported.

The flexural and shear capacity check of the concrete or reinforced concrete shear wall should be performed separately.
