Axis Offset Consideration Option in Modeling with StatiCAD V8
Before StatiCAD Version 8.0.2.0, when drawing wall, shear wall, beam, column, foundation beam, window, door, and jacket elements with axis offsets, it was necessary to use the center axis created by the program when connecting slab elements to walls and beams, and the program used the element center axes in the finite element model for calculations.
Starting from StatiCAD Version 8.0.2.0, the requirement to make element intersections from the center axis has been removed. Now elements can be defined from any axis (without the obligation to connect to the static axis and without creating a static axis), and calculations can be performed (with eccentricities taken into account in the stiffness matrix).
To enable this, make sure the checkboxes in the red area shown in the image above are selected. When drawing elements with offset values relative to the axis, slabs (and mat foundations) should be connected to beams and walls using the axis from which these elements were defined. When the options are selected, elements will be created at their defined axis, and eccentricities will be mathematically brought to their physical position by being taken into account in the stiffness matrix. This way, both easier modeling and faster analysis are achieved because the number of link elements created by the program in the analysis is reduced. When the options are selected, element intersections (slab-wall / slab-beam / beam-wall / beam-beam) should be made from the axis where the elements were defined.
When the options are selected and a door or window needs to be defined within a wall, the doors and windows are defined using the axis where the wall was defined and giving the same offset value given to the wall. If the operation is done correctly, the walls are divided into segments considering the door and window openings, and doors and windows appear as wall openings in the 3D view.
If you do not select the options, the center axes will be used in the finite element model, so element intersections should be made from the axis passing through the center of the elements.
When the options are not selected and a door or window needs to be defined within a wall, the doors and windows are defined using the center axis of the wall without giving an offset value (offset = 0). If the operation is done correctly, the walls are divided into segments considering the door and window openings, and doors and windows appear as wall openings in the 3D view.
