Creating a Static Model from DWG/DXF File Using StatiCAD Software
1. Launch the StatiCAD Program
2. Go to DWG Import menu
3. Use File>Open command to open the File Open dialog. Change the file type to dwg or dxf. Select your drawing file and use the open command to display the drawing in the StatiCAD drawing editor. If the drawing file is not displayed in the drawing editor despite this procedure, save the dwg file in dwg2007 format and try opening it again in the StatiCAD drawing editor.
4. StatiCAD import process uses line objects. If you are using StatiCAD V6.0.9.0 or higher, to convert polyline objects in the drawing to line objects, select the part of the drawing to be imported and click the "Convert Selected Polylines to Lines" command from the modify menu. Or to simplify the entire drawing, use the "Simplify Drawing for Import" command from the Modify menu. The first operation converts polylines in the selected drawing part to lines. The second operation converts all polylines in the drawing to lines and deletes the remaining objects. If you are using a version prior to StatiCAD V6.0.9.0, before opening the drawing file in StatiCAD, explode the drawing in AutoCAD to convert polyline objects to line objects.
5. Click the osnap button in the drawing editor and in the appearing dialog box, select Object Snap On and Endpoint options and click OK
6. After selecting the entire drawing with the window, click the move command on the screen (or move from the modify menu).
7. Click the upper left point of the floor plan to be imported, press the tab key on the keyboard, type 0,0 in the command line that appears on the screen. Note that the mark between zero and zero is a comma, not a period. Press Enter. The drawing will be moved to the 0,0 point by taking into account the base point you marked.
8. Click the View>Zoom Extends command or screen shortcut to display the entire drawing again. Press Esc to deselect the drawing
9. With the Tools>Distance command, we measure the distance between 2 known points to learn which cm/mm/m dimensions the drawing was drawn with. If the dimension is not in cm, we select the drawing and bring it to cm size with the scale command.
10. To make unnecessary layers in the drawing invisible, select an unnecessary line in the drawing. Click on the Properties window and learn the object layer.
11. Close the related layer with the Format>Layer dialog.
12. At this stage, we can backup the drawing we have edited using the File>Save As command in dwg or lcd format. If saving in dwg format causes problems, save the drawing in lcd format
13. Floor settings, floor selection (which floor to import to), and general project settings are performed on the screen
14. Click the wall command in the import toolbar. Importing walls individually is more efficient than multiple wall imports may not work well in every project.
15. In the wall properties window that appears, change the appropriate values and make material selection. If it is an existing floor or structure, the number of safety is taken as 1
16. If our walls consist of lines (not polylines), we can start wall import by selecting two lines at a time.
17. As the imported lines are converted to walls, the lines turn red.
18. After the import process, wall corners and intermediate sections may not be joined.
20. For this situation, select the two elements to be intersected on the main screen and click the "Intersect 2 Elements" button in the right menu to automatically intersect the elements
21. If axes are not imported, axes can be automatically created with the "Create if axis does not exist" option in the edit menu on the main screen
22. Wall join command can turn multi-piece walls connected end-to-end into a single piece
23. By selecting axis and element, you can perform the operation with the "Place selected elements on selected axis" option.
24. If there is an incorrect element, you can click or select it with a frame, delete it and recreate it.
25. You can also import doors/windows, beams, vertical bond beams, foundations and similar elements by selecting two lines at a time or draw them manually on the main screen.
26. You can import axes by multiple selection at once.
